Your Job

What you give your best for.

  • Designing, developing, optimising and maintaining squad-specific data architecture and pipelines that adhere to defined ETL and data lake principles
  • Preparing, aligning and organising the handover of data architecture and pipeline artifacts to the platform team for use across squads
  • Solving technical data problems to find resolutions that help our business colleagues achieve their goals
  • Creating data products for analytics and data scientist/ML engineer team members to improve productivity within their teams as well as the whole organisation
  • Advising, consulting, mentoring and coaching data and analytics professionals in your own squad and the organisation on data standards and practices
  • Contributing to the evaluation of emerging tools for analytic data engineering and/or data science and helping to set new standards for the ways of working
  • Proposing and contributing to education and improvement plans for analytical data engineering capabilities, standards and processes

Your Profile

What you should have.

  • Background in computer science
  • At least ten years of professional experience in software or infrastructure development roles, including a minimum of four years in data engineering roles with solutions related to distributed computing, big data and advanced analytics
  • Expertise in SQL and data analysis as well as experience with at least one programming language (e.g. Python, Scala)
  • Understanding of database development; data modelling experience, ideally using Databricks/Spark and SQL Server DB; knowledge of relational, NoSQL and cloud database technologies
  • Proficiency in distributed computing and the underlying concepts, preferably Spark and MapReduce
  • Familiarity with MS Azure tools, such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Event Hub, Synapse, ML
  • Conceptual knowledge of data and analytics, such as dimensional modelling, ETL, reporting tools, data governance, data warehousing, structured and unstructured data
  • Familiarity with Unix operating systems, especially shell scripting
  • Good understanding of network-level problems and connectivity requirements; the ability to debug issues
  • Basic knowledge of machine learning, data science, computer vision, artificial intelligence, statistics and/or applied mathematics
  • Excellent communication skills and fluent English; knowledge of German is a plus
